An Inconvenient History

As a monthly guest on Hudson River Radio's "The Many Shades of Green" (https://themanyshadesofgreen.com/) with Maxine Margo and Malcolm Burman, I enjoy providing perspectives on political, economic, and environmental news shaping our world as the Andy Rooney-style curmudgeon.

For every program I spend time outlining segments and carefully researching what I'd like to convey so my stories are built upon a foundation of facts, evidence, and vetted information, especially important in these propaganda and disinformation-heavy times.

In our first segment tonight I will be talking about the criminal-elect and the destruction of the Federal Government through the rapid implementation of Heritage's Project 2025 (something Trump notably disavowed knowledge of during his campaign -simply another lie among his thousands of lies).

People have said that liberals are like "Chicken Little" -all of the doom and gloom stemming from a Trump Administration were all beyond worst case scenario and would never happen.

In researching what Trump and Musk (or Fatman and his Boy Blunder as I think of them) have done in the past two months -consider the following.

• The criminal-elect was sworn in January, 2025.
• He has used impoundment to minimize or even eliminate the role of Congress in funding and appropriations.
• He has threatened media with de-licensing, barring Associated Press reporters from covering the White House and has refused to take questions from NBC News. His Cabinet (or criminal enterprise, as I prefer) has started investigations into major networks and is working to defund NPR and PBS. He has defunded Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) and Radio Free Asia (RFA).
• He has purged military leadership.
• He wants to replace all Federal workers with MAGA loyalists.
• He wants to withdraw from NATO.

For the sake of comparison:

• The German Chancellor was sworn in in January, 1933.
• February, 1933 the "Reichstag Fire Decree" effectively declared a national emergency and suspended civil liberties.
• March, 1933 -The Ministry of Propaganda was created to control news and media.
• March, 1933 -The Enablement Act -bypass Parliament such that "Executive Orders" are law.
• April, 1933 -Replace all opposition in Civil Service with party loyalists.
• July, 1933 -Ban all opposition parties.
• October, 1933 -Withdrawal from the League of Nations
• June, 1934 -Purge of military leadership.

Here's a hint. You're not going to "Make America Great Again" by turning into a 1930's fascist nation.

People who reported on, deconstructed and analyzed, and warned everyone about Project 2025 were not "Chicken Little Doomsayers". And for all those who wonder why Germans did not stop the fascist rise in the 1930's and the subsequent mass murder, war, suffering, and holocaust -guess what -people will be thinking the same thing about YOU if there will be a future.

Turning a representative democracy into a fascist authoritarian government led by a lying corrupt incompetent and his criminal enterprise is not going to make any nation "great".
