Adapting the Declaration of Independence for our Present, Perilous Times

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all are created equal. Regardless of gender, race, what we believe and who we love. We are endowed with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among us, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government. When a long train of abuses and usurpations evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government. The history of the present self-declared, lawless King Trump of the United States is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, establishing a Tyranny over these States.

Trump has refused to Assent to Laws, such as the emoluments clause of the Constitution –necessary for the public good.

Trump has forbidden his Senators to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, related to climate action, student loan debt, voting rights, election security.

Trump has refused to pass other Laws to fix gerrymandering –which causes people to relinquish their right of Representation in the Legislature.

Trump has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither. (Notably, the non-white refugees.)

Trump has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by directly obstructing justice (read the Mueller Report).

He has made Judges who are unfit because they share his affinity with assaulting women. See Kavanaugh, Brett.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, namely Russia.

He has harmed our Trade with parts of the world through his imposition of tariffs and withdrawal from international treaties.

He has imposed Taxes on us without our Consent –by adding significant debt to our national treasury –while cutting his own taxes and those of the obscenely wealthy.

He has plundered our seas (by allowing offshore drilling), ravaged our Coasts (through rising sea levels due to climate harm), burnt our towns (see Paradise, California –and climate impact of his scorched earth environmental policy), and destroyed the lives of our people.

He is separating children from their families and keeping them in cages, circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, extremist domestic terrorists, white supremacists, and neo-nazis.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
